  12.   The EXE archive is not for distribution.  A ZIPed archive is available for

  15. The self extracting file CANNOT unarchive to the disk it came on as there is
  16.   no room and you will get a 'Write Error'!

  18. The MEGAHOST.DOC file can be printed on most Laser printers by setting the
  19.   lines per page to 66.

  28.           ENTERING SYSOP INFORMATION
  29.           ──────────────────────────

  31.           You MUST first set up a SYSOP= entry in the .CNF BEFORE INVOKING
  32.           MEGAHOST.  The system will not function properly without this
  33.           entry.  The syntax is:
  34.  
  35.           SYSOP=DON MANKIN
  36.  
  37.           where DON MANKIN is replaced with your own name.

  42. If you have trouble with MEGAHOST, try removing any memory resident software
  43. you may have loaded.  MEGAHOST is known to have trouble with DOS editors.
  44.  
  45. Enabling Xon/Xoff flow control within MEGAHOST sometimes confuses your
  46.  callers not familiar with it's usage.  If enabled, and some line noise sends
  47.  a CTL-S (19 decimal), the callers terminal will freeze until a CTL-Q
  48.  (17 decimal) is received from the caller.  If the caller is unaware of this
  49.  technique, he/she will eventually hang up and complain of BBS troubles.

  52. MEGAHOST REQUIRES character and line pacing on ASCII uploads and auto-logons.
  53. This is accomplished using Procomm by typing ALT S, 6, and changing the
  54. following:
  55.                 Pace Character = 62
  56.                 Character Pacing = 50
  57.                 Line Pacing = 5
  58.  
  59. Other terminal software must be configured likewise.

  63.   Utilities written to convert MAXIHOST database files to MEGAHOST database
  64.   files are available from the Support BBS.  You should convert the Message
  65.   database if you had it enabled in MAXIHOST, but I would not convert the
  66.   user database.  The best way to assure that all of the user fields are
  67.   populated is to allow MEGAHOST to create the user database itself.

  69.   A program, MEGA_API.EXE is available for EXPERIENCED MEGAHOST users to
  70.   enable them to be able to add/change .CNF entries, display text files,
  71.   disconnect the caller, etc. from BATCHON, BATCHOFF, TRAPDOOR, and EVENT
  72.   batch files.  Use of this interface is on your own initiative.  Minimum
  73.   support will be provided. Improper use of this facility could compromise
  74.   the security of the system.  These features are being tested to see if
  75.   they provide any real value, and may be removed from future releases if
  76.   they prove too complex for the average user and/or support of them become
  77.   too time consuming.

  81. REGISTERED USERS:  Make sure you call the MEGAHOST support BBS occasionally
  82. to keep abreast of new versions and updates.  The number is currently
  83. 209-836-2402.  I'm Sorry, but I do not have the resources to answer phone
  84. calls, nor return mail.  Please use this BBS as our communications vehicle.

  86. Because MEGAHOST is a 'shop before you buy' Shareware product, most
  87. registrants already have a copy of MEGAHOST.  For this reason, diskettes
  88. are not mailed out immediately, but are mailed out with the next release.
  89. Releases vary but usually occur every month or two.  You may request a
  90. current release diskette be mailed instead by leaving a message on the
  91. Support BBS.  You may also request a REGISTRATION number to suffice you
  92. until you receive your diskette.   The registration information would be
  93. entered into your MEGAHOST.CNF as follows:

  97. where 32541 is the registration number provided by me that matches your
  98. registration name of 'MEGAHOST Support BBS'.

  104.     If used for personal use,  a Hobby registration  is necessary.  Use by
  105.     any organization  for any purpose would  be classified as a Commercial
  106.     registration.  Hobby  registrations  are  $29  USD,  while  Commercial
  107.     registrations are $59, still a good bargain.  Only VISA and MasterCard
  108.     can be  accepted via  the Support BBS - the prefered  method.  You may
  109.     also  register using  your AMEX and  Discover  Card by  calling PSL at
  110.     800-242-4775 and  refering to item #10391.  Diskettes are not normally
  111.     mailed out until a new  release is made  available.  You may request a
  112.     registration  number be  left to you via this system,  and/or that the
  113.     current release be mailed instead of waiting for the next one.

  141.  For those  upgrading from  MAXIHOST,  please  read  the MAXIHOST to MEGAHOST
  142.  upgrade information contained in the .DOC file.  You will find your MAXIHOST
  143.  registration number is incompatable  with MEGAHOST so make sure you call the
  144.  Support BBS for your new number. Execute menu item 2 from the
  145.  (+)-Registration module.
